Nedstyrtningen af den amerikanske brintbombemaskine ved Thule-basen den 21. januar 1968. Flyet, et B-52 Stratofortress bombefly der medførte fire 1,1 tons atombomber, forsvandt nedunder den tykke indlandsis. Bombernes indhold af radioaktivt plutonium blev spredt i hele nedstyrtningsområdet. Ulykken medførte, at der efterfølgende måtte udstedes jagt- og fiskeriforbud i hele området.
