I begyndelsen af 1950'erne hærger tuberkulosen på Grønland, hvor sygdommen har let spil på grund af de grønlandske vilkår med boligmangel og et koldt klima. Der er behov for bedre sygehuse og for flere læger og sygeplersker. Kong Frederik og dronning Ingrid besøger øen i sommeren 1952. Kongeparrets fond skal hjælpe med tuberkulosebekæmpelsen i Grønland.
